Google Wallet partners with TSA to introduce touchless ID, plus 3 other government updates you need to know.

With the constant evolution of public policy and administration, it is more important than ever for citizens and stakeholders to stay up-to-date on the latest updates from government.

The past week has seen major developments from key federal agencies, all affecting different aspects of American life.

Some of these developments include a USPS release of a new summer sunset nonprofit stamp, Google Wallet partnering with TSA to create a touchless ID for airport passengers, a Social Security update on how some benefit recipients will receive two checks in July and an FDA recall on a popular blood pressure medication.

All of these reflect the dynamic nature of government operations and their direct influence on the public.

Here are four noteworthy updates related to the Social Security Administration, the FDA, the USPS and the TSA.

Popular blood pressure medication recalled because it may be ineffective

More than 11,000 bottles of a popular blood pressure medication are being recalled after lab testing showed that the drug may be ineffective.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Chlorthalidone tablets failed to meet dissolution specification tests, impacting how effective the medicine can be.

Per FDA guidance, the dissolution test checks how well a medication dissolves and releases when it reacts with a liquid.

Failed dissolution specifications mean that the medication is either ineffective or at an incorrect dose.

Chlorthalidone treats high blood pressure, according to the Mayo Clinic.

USPS releases new nonprofit stamp just in time for summer

The new, nonprofit-rate stamp is intended for authorized nonprofit organizations’ bulk mailings.

The stamp did not have an unveiling ceremony, and was issued in Edgartown, Mass.

The stamp features art from an oil painting by local artist Rachael Cassiani of a sunset on Martha’s Vineyard.

The summer sunset nonprofit-rate stamp will be sold in batches of 3,000 and 10,000.

Google Wallet partners with TSA to move travelers quickly through security with new ID

Google is making it much easier to get through Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoints.

The tech giant is using Google Wallet as the first digital wallet to partner with the agency’s PreCheck Touchless ID program.

Here’s how it works.First, you’ll be asked to create an ID pass using your passport information in Google Wallet. Then, check in for your flight and save your boarding pass to Google Wallet.

If you’re eligible, there will also be an “opt-in” feature where you will see a “get started” button on your boarding pass.

This button will take you to the TSA enrollment page, where you can choose to share your ID and boarding pass with the TSA for your upcoming flight.

Once enrolled, a TSA PreCheck Touchless ID badge will appear on your Google Wallet boarding pass. That badge allows you to use the express TSA PreCheck Touchless ID line at the airport.

To find out how many airports and airlines are participating, as well as if you can save TSA’s PreCheck Touchless ID to your Apple Wallet, view our article.

Some Social Security recipients will receive two checks in July 2026. Here’s why

Some Social Security recipients who receive Supplemental Security Income will receive two checks this month. Here’s why.

The next payment for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients is July 1.

However, SSI recipients will receive a second payment on July 31, 2026, because Aug. 1, the typical payment date, falls on a Saturday when Social Security does not issue payments, according to the Social Security Administration.

This does not mean SSI recipients will receive an extra check in July — rather, it means that they will receive their August payment the month before.
