iPhone 18 Pro Max New Features and the Latest Bugs You Should Know

Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max has arrived with major upgrades in camera technology, performance, battery life and AI. But early owners have also reported some bugs that buyers should know about.

The biggest camera upgrade is the new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. For the first time on iPhone, users can adjust the aperture, giving more control over depth of field and low-light photography. Apple has also added new Pro controls, while Cinematic effects can now be applied after recording.

Inside, the A20 Pro chip works with a redesigned vapor-chamber cooling system. Apple says the new thermal design can deliver up to 40% better sustained performance than the previous Pro generation, making the phone better suited to gaming, video production and demanding AI tasks.

Battery life is another headline feature. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max can deliver up to 45 hours of video playback, while faster charging can provide around 50% charge in approximately 15 minutes with a compatible adapter.

The phone also introduces a smaller Dynamic Island, an 18MP Center Stage front camera and Siri AI with deeper personal context and onscreen awareness through iOS 27.

Latest Bugs Reported

The launch has not been completely smooth. Some iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max owners have experienced Face ID failures followed by freezing and automatic restarts. Apple has confirmed that a software update is being prepared to address the problem.

Some users have also reported unresponsive touchscreens. In addition, a subset of U.S. iPhone 18 Pro Max owners using AT&T have reported cellular connectivity and eSIM-provisioning problems, although the exact cause remains unclear.

For high-storage users, another concern has emerged: testing of the 1TB model found major write-speed drops during sustained heavy workloads. These results are worst-case benchmarks and may not affect normal everyday use.

Bottom line: the iPhone 18 Pro Max brings significant camera, battery, AI and performance upgrades, but early software and connectivity issues show that launch-day buyers should keep their device updated.
